Washington State Drivers Ed Driving 101 Practice Exam

When you obtain a driver's license in Washington State, especially as a new driver, there are specific restrictions during the first six months, often referred to as the "provisional license" or "intermediate license" stage. During this period, one of the main restrictions is that you can only drive with a member of your immediate family. This requirement is in place to ensure that new drivers gain experience under the guidance of trusted and responsible individuals, helping to promote safety and reduce the risk of accidents.

This focus on driving with family members allows new drivers to practice their skills in a more controlled and familiar environment, as family members can provide constructive feedback and support. The intention is to help develop the driver’s competence and confidence before they start driving with friends or others who may not have the experience or knowledge to provide adequate guidance.

The other options, such as driving with anyone over 18, anyone under 20, or friends, may not meet the specific regulations imposed during this initial licensing period. Restrictions are designed to protect new drivers and contribute to safer driving habits as they transition to full driving privileges.
